When Tomorrow Comes

Born and educated in Coventry, England, and a graduate of the former Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic, I began learning to play the piano at an early age and soon discovered my passion for composing music. Aided by private tuition on the piano and subsequently more exacting theory, I have over the years always strived to develop my compositional skills, inspired by the wonderful film music of composers such as John Barry and Ennio Morricone.
These days, as a keen environmentalist, I derive much of my inspiration from the natural world, from people and places. I continually strive to develop an individual style of music, with the emphasis on themeology, melody and ambience. I compose music all the time for the sheer joy of it, and I am motivated by life and its music, in all its richness and diversity.
An illustrious composer once said that the most important thing is to always remain a beginner; when one becomes too skilled, spontaneity disappears. I know that after over thirty years of composing, I still remain an eternal beginner, a music maker and a dreamer of dreams, “wandering by lone sea-breakers and sitting by desolate streams” (A.W.E. O’Shaughnessy, Music and Moonlight, 1874)
This Black on White album is dedicated to my parents and represents my latest collection of solo piano works, with no effects, but with soulful and filmic overtones
