David's album "Firehorse" now available on iTunes! New album being recorded in the New Year-look out for more great songs from David
David Fisher was born in Barrow-in-Furness. He hated school and got kicked out of Art College but got a good degree in Philosophy from the University of London. While pursuing his musical career, David has worked in record shops, book shops, bread shops, offices, hospitals, and restaurants. He's been a roadie, sound engineer, film dubbing mixer and even a children's entertainer!
David's debut album "Firehorse" is now available on Summerisle Records. Many of the songs were written in a ruined 400 year old Carthusian monastery 2000 feet up in the Swiss Alps. "Firehorse" is produced by Tim Bradshaw (long serving keyboad player/guitarist in the David Gray band) and features ex-members of The Waterboys, World Party, Fat Lady Sings and Black Grape, with special guest Peter Bruntnell. It continues in the literate musical tradition of David's musical heroes Dylan, Lennon/McCartney, Bowie, Pete Townshend, Tom Waits, etc.
To celebrate Las Vegas’ centenary this year, David made a video for “Destination Vegas”, a track on the album. Complete with glittery showgirls and an 85 year old DJ scratching on wind-up decks, it also includes footage of David miming the song with a karaoke Elvis outside Caesar’s Palace in the real Las Vegas. See the finished video on David’s website.
David's music has been enthusiastically received from North America to the Far East. To date he has released three singles and three EPs. He has also had tracks on several compilation albums, including a Bowie covers collection "Diamond Gods", in the good company of Blondie, Nico, and Hazel O'Connor.
David recently co-wrote and co-produced “Coming Home”, the main title theme for a 6-part prime time ITV drama comedy series "Stan the Man", starring John Thompson ("Fast Show" and "Cold Feet"), and including the wonderful Eric Sykes as a guest star. Viewing figures peaked at 6.5 million for Episode 2. You can download the song from David’s Website. The track features guitarist Big Jim Sullivan, session man on over 1000 chart hits from the 60's and 70's, (His credit list is jaw-dropping - David Bowie, George Harrison, Frank Zappa, Serge Gainsbourg, Eddie Cochran, Nancy Sinatra, Tom Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Van Morrison, Marianne Faithfull, Donovan - even Ken Dodd and Rolf Harris!) and drummer Chris Whitten whose CV includes two world tours with Paul McCartney and one with Dire Straits and is co-produced with film composer Alex Heffes (Steve Coogan's "The Parole Officer", "Touching The Void", and the Oscar-winning "One Day In September".
